This gallery of images was taken in the first six weeks of our kittens' lives. The images show the kittens as they have grown from crawl to jump.
The images in this gallery are 1400px and are best viewed on a PC or laptop, although you can view scaled-down images on phones, and tablets.
I hope you enjoy viewing these images as much as I enjoyed taking them.
A few months ago, our neighbors vacated their trailer. In doing so, they abandoned their cat, which we thought was just a kitten. The kitten adopted us, crying at my bedroom window until I let her in. She became part of the family. We did not realize that she was pregnant. On December 5, 2018, she gave birth to six kittens. Sadly, one of the kittens did not survive the first day. Since the birthing box she chose was on my bed, I got to hold her paw during the births. Since then, in just a few short weeks, the kittens have grown from crawl to jump and pounce. At this time, they have just begun to eat kitten food and drink water, although they still prefer mother's milk. It will soon be time for neutering, shots, and new homes for the kittens. We are fortunate to have a great kitten rescue service (see "Resources" section) that will soon take the family and prepare the kittens for new homes. The mother will return to us as she is now a permanent part of our family. We will miss each of the kittens when they are gone. Fortunately, we will always have pictures of them after they are gone.
The images were taken with a Canon Rebel T3i. I used a Canon EFS 60mm f/2.8 MACRO USM and a Canon Speedlite 580EXII external flash. I took a few trial shots to determine workable camera settings. I selected a shutter speed of 1/160 sec at f/13. All images received simple processing in Photoshop and were saved as low-resolution JPEG images that were optimized for the Web.
